Lavinia, protector of the pond lies in Overtoun Park in Rutherglen, Scotland. Born from local storytelling, she was a girl who worked at the Richmond Laundry factory during WWII. She salvaged a silk parachute and scented it with handpicked lavender flowers. Lavinia sewed the most beautiful dresses, a christening gown, a parasol and a bag for her and her little girl.

Lavinia’s Lavender was created by Emil Gunnarsson and Juliet Marie Watt and the volunteers at Grow73.

The story comes from storyteller Amanda Edmiston
